Troy Calhoun, Class of 1989, was recently named head football coach at the Academy, succeeding Fisher DeBerry. Calhoun will be the first graduate to hold that position. Calhoun played sparingly at quarterback in 1985 when Air Force finished 12-1 and then started during the 1986 season.

After graduation from the Academy, he served on the Air Force coaching staff under Fisher DeBerry as an assistant for the 1989-90 seasons. He served as the Falcon’s recruiting coordinator and as the junior varsity offensive coordinator in 1993-94. He moved to Ohio University in 1995 where he served as the quarterbacks coach for two seasons, and was promoted to offensive coordinator in 1997. Calhoun moved to Wake Forest University in 2001, where he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Calhoun began his NFL career with the Denver Broncos as a defensive assistant in 2003, and later moved to offense and special teams. When Broncos offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak was hired as the Texans' head coach, Kubiak brought Calhoun along and made Calhoun his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach until his selection as the Academy's head coach.
