Stopout
From USAFA Folklore
Stopout was a program that existed from 1980 until 1991(?) that allowed selected cadets to take one year off between their third and second class years, and graduate one year later than originally planned. The general purpose was to allow cadets to experience a little more of the real world before making their binding commitment to the Air Force. This program is different than the one used for cadets who take time off for a religious mission.
