Stick out a paw
From USAFA Folklore
"Stick out a paw" is the cadet equivalent of "raise your hand" when directed to fourth class cadets. Usually it involves a Doolie knowledge question, as in, "Four degrees: Stick out a paw if you know who was the first graduate to win the Medal of Honor." Any fourth class cadet who knows the answer will then extend one arm roughly parallel to the ground, and may answer the question when asked to do so.
This method is more efficient than raising one's hand, especially when many fourth class cadets are at attention and standing close together. This technique is also used in knowledge bowls.
