Squadron sponsor unit
From USAFA Folklore
A squadron sponsor unit (sometimes called a sponsor base)is an active duty Air Force unit that "sponsors" a cadet squadron. Depending on the year and funding, the two units might exchange sponsor trips, with cadets traveling to the base for several days to learn about operations, or sponsor unit members (usually grads) coming to the Academy. The cadet squadron normally carries its sponsor unit's unit colors in major formations, such as parades and Noon Meal Formation.
