Spirit mission

Spirit Missions are operations undertaken by cadets, often prank-like and occasionally elaborate and well-planned, designed to show spirit for one's class, squadron or other organization. Spirit missions are generally performed by fourth class cadets. Particularly impressive or creative spirit missions conducted by fourth class cadets may be rewarded by the granting of privileges. Generally, if a spirit mission is performed subtly and in good taste, officers and upper class cadets winked at the violation of regulations in favor of the esprit de corps.

One of the most common traditions is to paint the goat at Annapolis before the Air Force-Navy game with some sort of Air Force message. See the sample below:
