Special inspection

An upper class cadet could order fourth class cadets or basic cadets to report around for a special inspection (SI). The fourth class cadet or basic cadet was to wear Service Alpha: service dress, wheel cap, white gloves, under arms. A special inspection was individualized training that typically included such activities as:

  • Much shouting by the upper class cadet
  • Uniform inspection by the upper class cadet
  • 16-count rifle manual while reciting Schofield's quote by the fourth class cadet or basic cadet
  • The fourth class cadet or basic cadet being written up for some violation

Special inspections ceased in _???_ because they were determined to involve hazing, but portions of the SI stuck around in modified forms, such as uniform grades and training sessions.
