The Senior Officer of the Day (SOD) is a first class cadet holding the rank of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel or higher, who acts as the Cadet Wing Commander's representative for the day. The SOD determines the uniform of the day, conducts inspections of the cadet area, and generally monitors goings-on in the Cadet Wing. The SOD wears a grey aigulette and is normally the only cadet who is saluted by other cadets. All fourth class cadets are required to memorize the name of the SOD each day as part of Checkpoints.
