Permanent party

From USAFA Folklore

The term "permanent party" refers to those personnel assigned to USAFA, as opposed to cadets, who are not "permanent." There is some irony in the term, as many personnel assigned to USAFA actually stay there for less time than a graduating cadet does.

The term dates from the first days of USAFA, but grew out of fashion (when?). Starting (after the early '90s...when?) the term found its way back into the cadet lexicon.
