The Wings of Blue is the Academy's parachute team. Team members are sometimes called WOBs which stands for "Wings of Blue" or "PTWOB" which stands for "Parachute Team--Wings of Blue". Members of the Wings of Blue also act as the primary instructors for the Academy's Freefall Parachute Training.

[edit] PTWOB traditions

  • At some point in the 1980's a PTWOB tattoo tradition started. Members would get the PTWOB patch tattooed on their body, along with a serial number. A book was kept listing the numbers of PTWOBs with the tattoo. This is sometimes referred to as a member's "PTWOB Number"
  • PTWOBs enjoy leaving their mark by leaving PTWOB logo stickers wherever they can. Many can be found on the drive-thru ordering panels at various Colorado Springs fast food establishments, and inside any Air Force aircraft that the Wings of Blue have jumped from.
  • There is somewhat of a friendly rivalry between the WOBs and the Soaring IPs.
