The Outstanding Squadron Award is the highest unit award given at the Academy. It is given to the cadet squadron which has excelled in all aspects of Academy life--academic, athletic and military--during a given academic year. The winning squadron is awarded a plaque, a blue streamer with gold lettering for its guidon, and is honored at the Outstanding Squadron Banquet. In years where there is a Presidential Inauguration, the most recent winner of this award is usually given the honor of marching in the Inaugural Parade.

The award is sponsored by the Air Force Association.
