Lectinar
From USAFA Folklore
The lectinars are medium-sized, octagon-shaped lecture rooms at the south end of Fairchild Hall, on the third floor (Terrazzo level). There are eight lectinars and they seat about 60 persons each. They are sometimes known as the "the L's," because their room designations all start with "L" followed by a number.
Lectinars are frequently used for academic classes, club meetings, squadron meetings, final exams, M5 training, and various presentations and briefings. Somewhat less officially, they are also occasionally used after-hours by cadets for falcon love trysts, or by fourth class cadets to eat dinner so they can avoid being trained on the way back to their squadrons.
The labyrinthine nature of this part of Fairchild Hall (at least for the newcomer) has been used to play a joke on fourth class cadets. The unsuspecting smack is told to report immediately to lectinar L-7 or L-9, neither of which exist. However, L-8 and L-10 do exist, helping to convince the smack that he just needs to look harder.
