Johnny A. Weida was the 22nd Commandant of Cadets at the Academy, serving in that position from 2003-2005. He also served as Air Officer Commanding of Cadet Squadron 27 from 1991-1992. He is a graduate of the Class of 1978.

- Johnny Weida was the subject of ridicule in the graduate community, inspiring eDodo cartoons and the creative use of his official photo.
- Gen Weida is best known to the classes of 2004-2007 for giving a briefing in Arnold Hall while wielding a gigantic broad sword.
- Gen Weida was also considered to be very involved in the religious intolerance "scandal" in 2005-2006.

Weida is currently the Director of the Intelligence and Requirements Directorate, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The directorate shapes and enables Headquarters AFMC to develop technology and materiel solutions, and provide tailored science and technology intelligence to Headquarters AFMC senior staff.
General Weida received his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1978, and graduated from pilot training in 1979. He has commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels, including the 388th Fighter Wing at Hill AFB, Utah. He has also served as a member of the Thunderbirds U.S. Air Force Aerial Demonstration Team at Nellis AFB, Nev. The general has held staff positions with U.S. Forces Korea and the Air Staff Plans and Programs Directorate.
General Weida is a command pilot with more than 4,000 flying hours. Prior to his current assignment, General Weida was the Commandant of Cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
