Honor Calculator
From USAFA Folklore
As a result of the 2003 Honor Scandal, the common GR period was reinstated and cadets in the two junior classes were all issued calculators, mandated for use on all GRs to prevent cadets from storing cheat sheats in the memory of more advanced calculators such as TI-89s.
The issued calculators became known as "Honor Calculators".
The Honor Calculators generated controversy because cadets received them from flight issue and paid for them with Magic Money. However, the exact same model calculators could be purchased from the C-Store for a few dollars less. When cadets noticed this discrepancy, they were told (in typical academy fashion) that they might as well take the issued calculators, because the money was going to be debited from their accounts anyway.
