Herman Hill was the breast shaped mountain behind the cadet area. Given the breast shape of this hill, the original classes used it as a measure to describe the size of female breasts. One herman was equal to a hand full and one chuck, or mouthful, was equal to one half a herman.

Alternate Definition: The process for determining Hermans is for the lady in question to lower one boob in a bowl filled to the brim with water. the overflow is caught in another bowl, then sucked out of that bowl one mouthful at a time, with one mouthful equaling one herman.
