Guidon games

  • When marching into Mitchell Hall, the guidon bearer would try to see how long he or she could keep the guidon up before lowering it before entering the doors in formation. If the guidon bearer waited too long, the guidon would get hung up between the overhang over the doors and the guidon bearer. This would also cause the squadron to pancake into the guidon bearer. The overhang over the doors to Mitchell Hall bear many scars from guidon bearers playing chicken over the years. A few guidons have been broken in the process, too.
  • Right before your squadron is about to march (in the interval between "forward" and "harch" when squadron commander shouts "Forward.......Harch!"), the guidon bearer spins the guidon 360ยบ in front of himself once, like a propeller. Don't hit the top of the guidon on the ground! Officially banned by the PTB, it is an impressive trick if executed smoothly and in cadence.
