Class year reporting
From USAFA Folklore
For at least some time, from (when?--at least 1976) to (when?--at least 1992) cadet commanders would report in with their class year at parades and Noon Meal Formation. For instance, if the Class of 1992 were commanding the wing, the ten Cadet Squadron Commanders in each group would report in, in order, with 1, 9, 9, 2, 1, 9, 9, 2, 19 and 92 cadets absent. The four Cadet Group Commanders would then report in to the Cadet Wing Commander with 1, 9, 9 and 2 cadets absent, respectively. Occasionally, this practice gets challenged or banned because, in the view of some, it "violates the Honor Code" by not reporting in the actual number of cadets unaccounted for, apparently even if actual accountability was taken separately.
