Chicken Song

From USAFA Folklore

A little known jody from the late 80's, the "Chicken Song" (also known as "I Had a Chicken") takes a long time to finish (entire length of Terrazzo), but thereafter is a guaranteed favorite for Basics, and it concludes with a useful lesson...

[edit] Lyrics

I had a chicken
No eggs she lay
I had a chicken
No eggs she lay
I told my honey
We're losin' money
Because that chicken
No eggs she lay

One day a rooster
Came in our yard
And caught that chicken
Right off her guard
Well we've got eggs now
More than we used to
Because that rooster
Came in our yard

I had a moo-cow
No milk she give
I had a moo-cow
No milk she give
I told my honey
We're losin' money
Because that moo-cow
No milk she give

One day that rooster
Came in our yard
And caught that moo-cow
Right off her guard
Now we've got egg-nog
More than we used to
Because that rooster
Came in our yard

I had a doggie
No pups she give
I had a doggie
No pups she give
I told my honey
We're losin' money
Because that doggie
No pups she give

One day that rooster
Came in our yard
And caught that doggie
Right off her guard
Now we've got bird-dogs
More than we used to
Because that rooster
Came in our yard

I had some Bubble-Yum
It was too hard
I had some Bubble-Yum
It was too hard
I told my honey
My jaw hurts plenty
Because that Bubble-Yum
It's just too hard

One day that rooster
Came in our yard
And caught that Bubble-Yum
Right off its guard
Now we've got Chicklets
More than we used to
Because that rooster
Came in our yard

I knew a Marine
Guantanamo Bay
I knew a Marine
Down Git'mo Bay
He served his country
For love, not money
I knew a Marine
Guantanamo Bay

One day that rooster
Came in his yard
And caught that Marine
Standin' guard
That rooster's dead now
He's dead and buried
So here's the lesson
Never **** with a Marine
