Cathedral Rock is a large sandstone rock formation at the western end of Jack's Valley, downrange of the rifle range. It is protected as a National Historic Site, as inscriptions from the 1800s have been discovered in the sandstone. Of course, the rock is also full of more recent inscriptions and graffiti placed by cadets. In cadet tradition, Cathedral Rock is most closely linked with Recognition, one of the last official events of which is a run from the Cadet Area to Cathedral Rock, known appropriately as the "Run to the Rock".
