Cage ones eyes
From USAFA Folklore
When at attention, basic cadets and fourth class cadets are expected to cage their eyes. This means they are to focus their eyes straight ahead. The term may have derived from the process of caging a gyroscope in a navigation or weapons control system. Helpful upper class cadets explain that caging one's eyes develops peripheral vision capabilities and situational awareness that will be important when the cadet becomes a pilot.
When an upperclass cadet catches a basic cadet or fourth class cadet gazing, the command is usually, "Cage 'em mister/miss."
