Cadet Area
From USAFA Folklore
The Cadet Area c.1962, prior to the building of Sijan Hall
The Cadet Area is where cadets spend most of their time. It is the part of the base that includes the Terrazzo, Vandenberg Hall, Sijan Hall, Mitchell Hall, Arnold Hall, Fairchild Hall, Harmon Hall, the Cadet Chapel, CETF, Stillman Parade Field, the Observatory, the Cadet Gymnasium, the Cadet Fieldhouse, and the Athletic Fields.
The public normally has access to the Chapel, Arnold Hall and the Fieldhouse, but has limited or no access to the other buildings in the Cadet Area.
In April 2004, the U.S. Department of the Interior designated the Cadet Area a National Historic Landmark. [1]
