The first Army-Air Force Football Game took place in Yankee Stadium on Saturday, October 31, 1959. Before the game, a group of Class of 1961 cadets under the leadership of Tom Pattie traveled to West Point and attempted to capture the Army mascot. Tom Pattie had attended West Point and was able to infiltrate the Army defenses to gather intelligence. Unfortunately, the mule-napping team was not successful. The team was captured by the Army Military Policemen and later released.
