A.M. Inspection
From USAFA Folklore
(Redirected from AMI)
A.M. Inspection or AMI is a routine morning inspection of the cadet dormitories. The standards are generally "neat and orderly," and much less stringent than the SAMI standards. AMI inspections may be conducted as official events, but more commonly they are unannounced "pop" inspections of general cleanliness.
Recently, cadets unaware that "AMI" stands simply for "A.M. Inspection" have been inventing backronyms for it, the most common (and wrongest) being "Additional Morning Inspection." What makes it additional, and what inspection should be called the non-additional one, nobody knows.
